One of the fun things I’ve been doing now and then (not often, ‘cause I just don’t have the time) is to chat with total strangers who want to link up with me or otherwise engage me on a social platform. Often, these are pictured as young vivacious girls.
My purpose is to, at the right moment, present some facts to them as to the existence and reality of God.
So, recently such an opportunity arose and after a few exchanges, she told me she was from Singapore and wanted to know some more personal things about me. (You do realize, guys, that these are exploiters looking for enough personal info to profit them from you in some fashion, or spies by a foreign nation—I believe the terms is “honey pots”—to compromise you?). I then did a prepared response laying out a rather lengthy pitch which included some words from than ancient book some call the Bible.
Her response was from an AI. It was the first time I ever communicated with one, as far as I know.
It was soooo apparent that AI wrote the response. What’s scary is when these things get good enough that we can’t detect their presence. (An apology to any who are sincere and who they portend to be.) Some already have a pseudo personality.
When (and if) they reach that point of self-awareness—as many predict—then, we will begin to see some issues with AI that are too innumerable to foresee. We can’t construct the flowchart that would calculate the potential issues.
Uh…well, maybe AI can do that for us! Gosh! Hadn’t thot of that.
