Fascinating, this AI thing. AI now wants to allow it to write my posts. I guess I'm old fashioned, stone-age, or sumpthin' because I cannot for the life of me imagine being happy at a computer expressing my feelings. Not possible. Not me. Not my "voice." (Example: Would the AI really toss in such casual "in person" words like sumpthin' ?) Every true writer likes to believe s/he has their own style, their own "voice" and that they are unique. And, to a large part that is true, unless one is a "rote writer" (see, AI would not have invented a term like that for me - my brain did it...spur of the moment, thot flickering into the mind and running out the fingertips moment). A rote writer is a writer who writes things in a book-like fashion, little or no creativity, sticking to forms and the norms
. For them, I suppose AI is a workable solution. But, I can't see it for those of us who believe WE have something to say and want to say it in our voice, our style and timing.
I remember when Kregel accepted my book Protecting Your Church Against Sexual Predators. My greatest fear was in losing my "voice" to their editors. And, that did happen in part. It came out fine and frankly, I probably did need to sound more professional in some parts, so I was fine with the edits. But, in my looks at AI, I love it for the research ability and putting summaries of certain pdf's together, but not for my writing. And, does anyone besides me HATE the AI created Youtube vids? Gag! Booooring! Mundane. At times, nonsensical. And, terrible w/pronouncing certain words.
Ok. Rant over. Time to work
